Our well-being baby scan is an integral part of all our packages from 16 weeks onwards. This traditional 2D scan can be performed at any stage after your initial NHS appointment. It focuses on assessing your baby's development, including growth measurements, foetal movement, weight calculations, placenta position, amniotic fluid volume, and provides an audible heartbeat trace. We also determine the position of your baby to ensure everything is progressing normally.
A well-being scan is available for any expectant mothers who have concerns and want professional reassurance about their pregnancy. It offers almost instant peace of mind and is a quicker and more accessible option compared to NHS scans, which are typically scheduled at 12 and 20 weeks. Our comprehensive well-being checks provide you with the necessary information to address any concerns or simply offer peace of mind, along with another chance to bond with your baby.
All our scans are transabdominal, which means they're non-invasive, unlike the transvaginal scans sometimes done in hospitals. Our handheld scanner gently glides across your abdomen with a bit of lubricating gel to ensure good contact, allowing our sonographer to capture the clearest possible ultrasound images of your baby and perform all necessary checks. To ensure the best results, we recommend drinking about 1 litre of fluid before your appointment. Transabdominal scans are completely safe and pain-free, allowing you to fully experience the moment and bond with your baby.
Lovely place, Nathan made me feel really comfortable during the scan, very friendly and helpful. Was amazing to see and find out what me and my husband are having for our child and would highly recommend.
Myself and my husband wanted to book a gender scan, and after seeing all the good reviews Numi Scan had we felt like it was the right one to go for. We were not disappointed with our choice, the premises is nice and clean, and Nathan was really personable.
Amazing! I’ve had 5 scans at Numi scan; an early pregnancy reassurance scan, 3 well being scans, and a super star 4D baby scan. Nathan is amazing every single time, the reassurance he’s given me throughout my pregnancy has been an absolute godsend.
The need for a well-being scan varies from person to person. It could be due to various reasons, such as feeling that something isn’t quite right, experiencing illness, having concerns, or needing additional monitoring due to health or lifestyle issues
4D Ultrasound is the latest advancement in ultrasound technology, adding the dimension of time to create live-action images of your baby moving in real time. By capturing multiple 3D images, we can show your baby’s movements as they happen, giving you a unique glimpse into your baby’s world
3D Ultrasound involves layering multiple 2D images captured by our sonographer to create a detailed, three-dimensional picture of your baby. Unlike traditional black-and-white 2D scans that show a single cross-section, 3D scans provide a more lifelike image, allowing you to see your baby’s face and features if they’re at an appropriate size
If we are unable to complete your scan due to your baby’s positioning, If a re-scan is required, a discussion will happen with the mother to understand if she prefers to wait for a couple of days or whether she prefers a more urgent re-scan. We will base this appointment on whether you have had any other scans from other clinics or NHS in the last weeks
At Numi Scan South London, your scan will be performed by fully experienced and qualified sonographers, registered with HCPC (Health and Care Professionals Council), NMC (Nursing & Midwifery Council), GMC (General Medical Council), SoR (Society of Radiographers) or BMUS (British Medical Ultrasound Society). We have female sonographers available. If you have a preference, please let us know during the booking process, as we understand that a baby scan is a deeply personal experience
No, our private baby scans are designed to complement NHS scans, not replace them. You should still attend your NHS scans even if you opt for additional private scans. The NHS offers further tests and diagnoses beyond what ultrasound alone can provide, ensuring comprehensive care for you and your baby
